Kakadu is a piece of music inspired from my years touring and playing in remote Australia. The beauty that this country has, is rivalled by none other that I have seen in my many tours and travels overseas. I first experienced Kakadu at the age of 14 when I went with the legendary Brian Young Show for approximately 4 months helping where I could, the next year saw me as a permanent member of the show as the drummer. I stayed for the next five years touring with the great man 10-11 months of the year playing 6-7 nights a week. The tours spent 90% of the time in outback Australia, mostly performing in aboriginal missions and communities. In this time, I fell in love with the aboriginal people and their culture. One thing that always stuck with me while watching local bands in the desert particularly, was the passion and energy that was shown in their performances, while retaining humble qualities in their songs. While writing and recording Kakadu I have channelled that raw energy and earthy tones in the performance to try take you on a journey to one of the most mesmerising places I have ever experienced, KAKADU.
